Terms of Service: Zen Cat Grooming Spa at the Feline Hotel

1) Health, Vaccines, Testing, and Eligibility

All cats must be in good health. Owners must disclose any known medical conditions.

To enter/board, cats must meet ALL of the following:

  • No unsupervised outdoor access
  • Rabies + FVRCP (Distemper): up to date (within 3 years)
  • FIV + FeLV: negative tests within 3 years
  • Stool parasites: negative test within 1 year
  • Parasite-free: no fleas/ticks and no signs of internal parasites
  • No active illness (e.g., loose stools, green/yellow eye or nasal discharge) unless disclosed and approved in advance
  • Spay/neuter: required for cats over 6 months, unless approved in advance

If requirements are not met: we may refuse entry, transfer to a veterinary facility at the owner’s expense, and/or arrange a house-call veterinarian at the owner’s expense.

2) Cancellations and Refunds

Grooming: Any scheduled full grooming service $50 or more is subject to a $50 grooming cancelation fee. Anything over that will be credited to your account. Refunds on request. 

Boarding: Spaces are limited, please give as much notice as possible. 

  • Full refund: 14+ days notice
  • 50% refund: 8–13 days notice
  • Full payment due/No refund: 7 days or less notice

Holiday periods: During the 7 days before or after major holidays, required notice time doubles (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).

3) Personal Items and Food Policy

  • All items must arrive in a reusable bag labeled with the cat’s first and last name.
  • Bedding/toys/items provided by owners are left at the owner’s risk.
  • No raw food of any kind, including dehydrated raw.

4) Payment, Deposits, and Extensions

  • Last-minute bookings (5 days or less notice): 10% added to the first week of service
  • Deposit: 50% due at scheduling
  • Full payment: due upon arrival
  • Cats with any balance will only be released after full payment

Extensions:

  • Up to 3 days: pay at pickup
  • 4+ days: payment due at the time of the extension request

Card authorization: You authorize us to charge any card on file for deposits, balances, or subscriptions.

5) Abandonment Policy

If a cat is left more than 7 days past the agreed pickup date without notice:

  • The emergency contact will be notified using your supplied information.
  • If the emergency contact is unresponsive or uncooperative after another 7 days, we may surrender the cat to a no-kill shelter, nonprofit rescue, or another party at our discretion.
  • $1,000 surrender charge will be added, along with unpaid boarding fees, surrender-related expenses, and any legal/collection fees.

6) Photography

We may take photos of cats for marketing using only the cat’s first name. No owner-specific information (e.g., last names) will be shared.

7) Delays and Notifications

You must notify staff promptly if you are delayed in arriving with your cat or picking up your cat.

8) Safety and Liability Disclaimer

We are unable to provide care for cats with documented aggression or biting. We reserve the right to reassign rooms or spaces at any time to maintain a safe, calm environment. The Feline Hotel and Zen Cat Grooming Spa is not responsible for any loss, injury, illness, or death related to boarding, grooming, or other services.

9) Authorization for Veterinary Care

You authorize our representatives to seek veterinary care for your cat and to make medical decisions for your cat at your expense.

10) Modification of Terms

We reserve the right to amend these Terms of Service at any time. The latest version is always available at www.catboardingdetroit.com/tos.

11) Acknowledgment of Understanding

By booking services for your cat(s), you acknowledge you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
